George Liset

ELDER

George has been married to his wife Sylvia for forty four years. George and Sylvia have three married grown children. Jocelyn Gross, Reed Liset and Bacall Saracy, as well as five grandchildren. George and Sylvia have been attending DEC since 1986. We have been involved in many different DEC ministries over the years including teaching Sunday School, working with the youth, Vacation Bible School , men’s and women’s ministries, young adults, and small group ministry.

George was the team chaplain for the UNH football team for over twenty years. George and Sylvia were involved with helping to start Athletes Intervarsity at UNH which became the model for the start of AIV in every major campus across the country. Locally George and Sylvia had been on the ground floor of starting Young Life on the Seacoast of New Hampshire.

George taught for 44 years and coached in Dover Public Schools, Portsmouth Christian Academy, and long-time coach with the UNH Track and Field program. Sylvia’s career was in food service sales, part-time as a merchandiser when the children were born, and now part-time at a local antiques store!

George is a graduate of Wheaton College in Illinois with a B.S, in Education and Biblical Studies and received a M. Ed. from the University of New Hampshire. Sylvia received her A.A.Science degree in Culinary Arts at The NH Vocational-Technical College in Berlin, NH.
