Community Resources
Every state is required by law to have a parent information resource center. This is a great first point of contact for any concerns about your child’s development, mental health issues, or availability of resources in your state.
In New Hampshire: Parent Information Center (http://www NULL.parentinformationcenter NULL.org/)
In Maine: Maine Parent Federation (http://www NULL.mpf NULL.org/)
New Hampshire Family Voices (http://www NULL.nhfv NULL.org/) is another great parent resource offering a variety of support.
Community Partners (http://www NULL.communitypartnersnh NULL.org/?page_id=2) is the designated support center for a variety of needs in Strafford County for people of all ages.
Looking for second hand durable medical equipment (wheelchairs, walkers, augmentative communication, bath aids etc)? Here are two local resources:
Get At Stuff (http://www NULL.getatstuff NULL.com/)
Crotched Mountain Equipment Marketplace (http://www NULL.crotchedmountain NULL.org/crotchedmountain/html/removerview NULL.htm)
Joni and Friends (http://www NULL.joniandfriends NULL.org/new-england/) is an international ministry for people with disabilities that has been supported by members of dec. We’ve sent people to their family retreats and ministry conferences. There are also several Joni and Friends DVDs in our church library.
The National Alliance on Mental Illness (http://www NULL.naminh NULL.org/) is another great resource. It has local chapters that offer support groups, education, and advocacy.
